Michael Bültmann, Designing for People and Planet

Large companies need to commit themselves to not just making money, but also making a better future for our planet.

Environmental solutions as strategy are the core component of Nokia’s innovation plan. “If you focus on making things better and more sustainable, this trickles down to everyone and everything involved,” says Michael Bültmann, Managing Director of Nokia GmbH.

Nokia encourages the recycling of their mobile products, and in the past 10 years have reduced the environmental impact of phone production by 65%.

In addition to recycling, Nokia customers in European nations may download an app focused showing them how to reduce carbon emis- sions while traveling throughout the continent.

Nokia also strives to improve the lives of those in both developed and developing countries through mobile. Nokia Life Tools offer localization, information, education, and entertainment. Nokia Money, a suite of personal finance tools, has been successful in both India and several African nations.

If you focus on making things better and more sustainable, this trickles down to everyone and everything involved. Michael Bültmann
